Sur-Tech is based in Northern Ireland and has a team of trainers that have a total of well over 100 year’s service in the Royal Ulster Constabulary, and latterly the P.S.N.I. They have vast experience in combating serious crime and terrorism within the hostile environment of Northern Ireland.

Training Credentials
Having been an A.C.P.O. trainer and co-ordinator, Sur-Techs director and founder, was employed on several occasions by N.S.L.E.C. both at Loughborough and Wyboston. He holds a City and Guilds Certificate in Adult Further Education and a Dip Env Sc. As well as having attended several Mainland Force User Group Meetings, he also sat on the committee responsible for writing and re-writing the A.C.P.O. Standards on Electronic Surveillance. Training methods
With such a wealth of experience and skill in this field, the training team imparts expert knowledge in a friendly and informative manner. A “down to earth” training style is taken, with students appreciating and learning from the trainers “experiential” approach. Importantly, Sur-Tech utilises training ideas that are realistic and innovative, well honed and adapted for today’s modern technical covert policing. Exercises are an important part of the training and these are designed and tailored to suit each course and planned to be realistic and what the student would expect “on the ground”

CME Training
This is provided to various skill levels.

Bespoke Courses are proving very popular. Students discuss their requirements with Sur-Tech staff who design a course in order to fulfil the clients’ requirements.


Operational Training Weeks can also be organised where the client discusses what equipment they wish to deploy and use. A series of exercise operations are then planned and overseen by the trainers. This enables the students to use specialist equipment in a real life scenario without the interruptions they would have if they were still back in their Force with the added benefit of sound tuition.
